The Handre, Faf and Steven Breakfast!

We have secured the Springbok double RWC winning half-backs Handré Pollard and Faf de Klerk and strongman Steven Kitshoff for an AfriSam business breakfast in Cape Town in July, as we celebrate three Springboks who played a major part in the back to back triumphs in Japan and France.

Pollard’s ice-cool kicking dispalys at both the 2019 and 2023 RWC campaigns are astonishing. He scored 69 points in 2019, including 22 in the Final against England. Injury kept him out of the original 2023 squad, but he returned as an injury replacement to again kick the Springboks to ultimate glory, slotting all 12 points in the final against the All Blacks. But, who can forget is 55m clutch kick in the 2023 semi-final against England in the pouring rain with three minutes to play to win it for his team! And his 53m kick to beat France in the quarter final. And his last minute, match-winning penalty against Wales in the 2019 semi-final!! We could go on but let him tell us about it over breakfast.

What does one say about Faf! The gutsy, bouncy and very spirited Springbok has all the traits of an international scrumhalf. He has been dogged by injury for the past year, with a thigh injury ruling him out for most of the 2024 season and now a thumb injury setting him back a few more weeks. Never one to step back, we have witnessed “Faf the Menace” getting up close and personal and niggle many larger opponents as tensions heated up. Always calculated of course. And his crucial, fearless tackling often turned dangerous defence into attack. Not to mention his goal kicking when required.

Sadly, Kitshoff’s Springbok career ended abruptly this year as a serious neck injury forced him to call it quits in the prime years for a prop forward. An integral part of the dark arts “Bomb Squad” in 2019 and 2023, Kitshoff brought not only scrummaging penalty-winning power and bullocking runs to the Boks, but his ability to win crucial steals at the breakdown was a big part of his game. What a way for us to celebrate the journey of a great Stormer and Springbok, with two of his teammates!

So, invite your key clients as we enjoy a fantastic rugby morning with true Springbok royalty.

Matthew Pearce will add his own astute rugby knowledge and inside perspective as the MC for the morning.
